Federal Government announces $1.3m funding for Playgroup Australia
Playgroup Australia, the national peak body for playgrounds and the coordinator of PlayConnect Playgroups and Better Start community events, will receive over $1.3m in funding to continue delivering its programs designed for families of young children with unique needs associated with having an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The commitment were announced by Minister for Social Services Paul Fletcher and Assistant Minister for Social Services, Housing and Disability Services, Sarah Henderson in a statement released over the weekend.
Playgroup Australia currently runs around 42 playground across Australia and hold 24 events per year nationally to help families develop social networks and connect parents of children with disabilities to local support services.
The funding package announced by Paul Fletcher, Minister for Families and Social Services over the weekend will be made up of $1.125 million for the Playconnect program and $200,000 to continue the Better Start Community Events program.
This funding package builds on prior year commitments totalling $24 million between July 2013 and June 2018.
