Cooks and in-house chefs now eligible for discounted care
Discounted fees are now available to cooks and in-house chefs employed in early childhood education and care (ECEC) services as part of the early childhood workforce discount initiative.
From 24 January 2022, ECEC providers have been able to offer educators and early childhood teachers in their employ a discount of up to 95 per cent on their gap fees – the difference between the amount the service provider charges, and the amount covered by the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
Effective 1 January 2023, this discount has been applied to cooks and in-house chefs whose children are enrolled in one of the ECEC services operated by the provider.
The cook or chef must:
- work at a centre-based day care or outside school hours care service; and,
- have a child enrolled at a service where they work or that is owned by the provider.
The discount does not affect an employee’s CCS entitlement.
