Stephen Kinmond OAM to start 5-year term as NSW Children’s Guardian from 16 Jan

Stephen Kinmond OAM will start his five-year term as the New South Wales Children’s Guardian on 16 January 2023, taking on the position from Janet Schorer.
The appointment was announced by NSW Minister for Families and Communities Natasha Maclaren-Jones, who said Mr Kinmond has extensive experience in child protection and with oversight bodies, including as CEO of the Association of Children’s Welfare Agencies (ACWA) and as Deputy Ombudsman.
“Throughout his 40 years of experience in the sector, Mr Kinmond has worked with government and non-government agencies and demonstrated a strong commitment to robust regulatory oversight,” Ms Maclaren-Jones said.
She thanked Ms Schorer for her contribution as Children’s Guardian over the previous five years, and noted that Richard Weston will continue as Acting Children’s Guardian until Mr Kinmond takes up his new role.
