More ECEC on the way for Deniliquin and district families

Additional early childhood education and care (ECEC) services could soon be on the way for families in the New South Wales Deniliquin district with a development application for a new service recently submitted to Edward River Council.

Should the plans be approved, a 38 place service, cared for by a staff team of six, would be built on vacant land at the corner of  Hardinge and Wood Sts, with the service proposed to operate from 7 am to 6 pm weekdays. 

Three playrooms would be built on the Hardinge St side of the property, with rooms one and two connected by bi-fold doors, documentation supporting the development application states, also outlining external play areas and a dedicated car park. 

Two of the three play rooms would be separated by a bathroom area, changing space and storage. Additional bathrooms and a cot room would be located in the space between playroom one and the reception area, with the outdoor area banked into the western side of the property. 

The kitchen and laundry spaces would be located separately from the playrooms, which will care for eight children under two, ten children between the ages of two and three years, and 20 children from three years of age through to the time they leave for school. 

In the carpark, ten dedicated parking spaces are outlined, with access from Wood St. Six spaces would be reserved for staff, with the remaining four for family use. The external design of the building has been “carefully considered to be consistent with the residential character of the neighbourhood,” featuring light brown, mid and dark grey tones, to be “a visually recessive appearance in the predominant residential area.”
