200 new ECEC jobs in Victoria thanks to Chisholm partnership
A joint initiative between Jobs Victoria, the Department of Education and Training and the Chisholm Institute is aiming to create 200 new early childhood educator jobs in Victoria, with qualifications to be completed as part of the state’s Free TAFE program.
The Jobs Victoria Early Childhood Educators Traineeship Program will give early childhood services the chance to engage one or more trainees in 2023, offering successful applicants the chance to gain practical experience in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector while earning an income and gaining a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Through the program, the Institute will find trainees who are ready to work and contribute valuable skills to services across the state. Several online information sessions will be held in January, February and March to support those employers who are interested in recruiting trainees through the program to learn more.
Trainees will be able to access up to $5,000 in Australian Apprentice training support payments for a one-year traineeship. Trainees may also be eligible for a further $4,000 in milestone-based training support payments from Chisholm Institute.
The Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care qualification will be completed under the Free TAFE program, while undertaking a paid traineeship in an early childhood education service, with a specific focus on providing opportunities for people who are:
- long-term unemployed or at risk of being long-term unemployed
- under 25 or over 45 years of age
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Victorians
- people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- women.
People interested in becoming trainees can attend an online information session to learn more.
Interested applicants can apply now through Jobs Victoria. Places are limited.
