G8 Education named as Australia’s most attractive employer
G8 Education has been named as Australia’s most desirable employer in the Randstad Employer Brand Research 2022 survey, which covered the 75 largest employers in Australia which included both public and private organisations.
G8 was followed by BHP and the NSW Department of Communities and Justice in the rankings as detailed on Channel 7 News’s coverage of the survey results.
“We pride ourselves on providing supportive, purpose-driven and fun workplaces in which our team can thrive,” G8 CEO Gary Carroll commented, “so it’s wonderful to know this is being recognised more broadly.”
The research showed that work-life balance, attractive salaries and benefits, and job security top of the list of ‘must-haves’ for job hunters today, with the annual independent nationwide survey of 6,000+ Australians showing what is attracting, retaining and turning the heads of Australian talent in 2022.
With the Australian unemployment rate falling to 3.5 per cent in June 2022 (a 50-year low) Australian workers have never had more opportunity to position themselves in roles which best suit their needs, and this is especially true for the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector, where shortages continue to impact.
The research paints a picture of a confident workforce, with employees not hesitating to seek new pastures if they feel their employer is not meeting their priorities, which also include good training and a pleasant working environment.
It also illustrates the willingness of employees to move on from a role which no longer meets their needs, with one in four of those contacted for the survey indicating that they intend to change roles in the next six months, a rate higher than in previous years.
One in three of those surveyed indicated their current employer is not offering a good work/life balance, while less than half believed that the salary and benefits offered are good.
Employees are, however, willing to stay put if their employer makes positive changes and supports their growth and development. Two-thirds of those surveyed said they are very likely to stay put if they can reskill or upskill in their current job.
“This year’s results demonstrate how important it is for employers to look at the broader offering beyond salary,” explained Angela Anasis, Executive General Manager, Randstad Sourceright ANZ.
“While remuneration is key in a competitive job market and inflationary economy, Australian workers have reset their priorities following the pandemic and striking a balance between their work and personal lives is no longer a nice to have, it’s an essential.”
