CQ University invites women returning to work to participate in free course
CQUniversity is inviting women who are returning to work after a period of time away from the workforce to participate in a free eight-week course that will help them design the career of their dreams, which may include working in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector.
The course can be accessed in person for those living in and around Brisbane, or online for those who have issues with attending face to face.
Funded by the Australian Government through the National Careers Institute (NCI), the Reframing Our Future program is an innovative and free opportunity which aims to empower women to imagine and design the careers they want, that meet the needs of a changing world.
Co-designed by CQUniversity and Tomorrow Architects and delivered over eight weeks from July 2022, Reframing Our Future will support women who have taken a break from employment, or want new jobs and careers that better fit with life commitments, while tackling emerging social issues.
“Whether it’s unpaid caring, health, the pandemic, or something else that’s paused your career, we know women face disproportionate barriers to achieving financial security and job satisfaction in their employment,” said CQUniversity Social Innovation Program Manager Gayle Evans.
“I’ve had many chapters in my career, and the most fulfilling has been after I followed advice to ‘find what you’re passionate about, and pursue that,” she added.
Reframing Our Future supports women to recognise their own values and beliefs, and to explore what lights them up inside. Through group sessions and one-on-one coaching, this program also grows confidence and accelerates career ambitions, in a safe and empowering environment.
“The future is full of change – providing us with both challenges and opportunities. This innovative program will empower participants with insights that we hope will help them create meaningful and fulfilling career pathways,” Ms Evans added.
Participants will be connected with careers professionals and be given a range of support to help them map their talents and passions against future-of-work trends.
On completion of the course participants will be given a CQUniversity certificate of completion, and build networks for their next career moves, into industry, business or social sectors.
The program will support 55 women who are ready to future-proof their careers, and expressions of interest are open now to begin weekly workshops from 26 July to 15 September 2022.
Women must register via this link by 24 June 2022 to participate.
