Large seven-room ECEC service proposed for Walkervale in Queensland’s Bundaberg

An application to build a 110-place early childhood education and care (ECEC) service in Walkervale, a suburb of Queensland’s Bunderberg, has been received by Bundaberg Regional Council. 

The Material Change of Use application for the centre at 60 Walker Street was submitted by applicant Rosalind Corporate Pty Ltd, and is expected to employ 19 staff to educate and care for children aged from birth to five years of age. 

With a total gross floor area of 868.51 square metres the seven room service will have a “traditional and timber style” and will have two large outdoor play areas, 30 car parking spaces and landscaping.

“The proposed development will address the existing and anticipated demand for additional childcare places in the local area,” the application states, pledging to offer “exceptional educational programs for parents apart from the existing aging centres in the area.”

The site is presently vacant land, and is located opposite the Southside Central Shopping Centre.
