ECT takes on tennis challenge to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation

Early childhood teacher (ECT) Zoe Turner has taken on a 12-hour tennis challenge to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Ms Turner will play 12 straight hours of tennis on 20 November, with community members invited to attend Stroud tennis courts to play a game with her and raise money for the charity.  She hopes to raise at least $800. 

“Make-A-Wish is in urgent need of funds,” she told local news source Dungog Chronicle. “It’s really important to me to raise money to help give these children their final adventure,” Mrs Turner said. “Any amount will help, even if it is $1.”

She will stop only for food, water and toilet breaks, and will run children’s games in the afternoon to ensure people of all ages are able to support. 

Friends and family have filled some time slots in the 12-hour challenge but more people are needed “to keep Mrs Turner on her toes.” Husband Brendon Turner will help fill in gaps in play during the challenge.

Mrs Turner took up tennis in 2016 and began coaching in 2018. While she is a regular at the Dungog and Maitland tennis courts, she wanted to host the challenge in her home town of Stroud because she knows it is a community which is both “strong and very giving”.
