Rishworth echos AHCA claims: IHC changes too little, too late.

Recent reports of families worse off under the changes to child care subsidies (CCS) demonstrate “cruel cuts to some of the most vulnerable families,” Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Development Amanda Rishworth has said.

In the six months since the CCS changes took place, Ms Rishworth said that one in four families have been left worse off, with those most affected by the changes being “those who can least afford it and those who need access to care the most”.

Highlighting those families requiring in home care (IHC), Ms Rishworth described them as “some of the most vulnerable, noting 11 IHC providers who were “forced to close their doors because of these changes”.

Ms Rishworth said Federal Minister for Education Dan Tehan’s announced changes to IHC subsidies were “an attempt to try and fix his government’s own mistake” adding that “for many, it is too little, too late” – sentiments echoed by Australian In Home Care Association (AHCA) President Nicola Morgan, as reported by The Sector yesterday.
