Early Childhood Educators Day is on Wednesday – how will you celebrate?
Australia’s early childhood sector is getting ready to share their appreciation for the hard-working frontline educators who have been caring for children over the past year by celebrating Early Childhood Educators Day on Wednesday, 1 September.
Early Childhood Educators’ Day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia’s educators in early learning services for their contribution to the well-being and healthy development of the children in their care.
At Taigum Child Educare Centre in Brisbane, Early Childhood Educators Day is bigger than Christmas. Service Leader Janine Schokman explained that at Taigum, the day is an opportunity to make educators feel really special.
“It’s all about them and the role that they play in giving the children a safe and happy learning environment,” she added.
“Our families are also very supportive and generous on Early Childhood Educators’ Day, bringing hand-made gifts and thank you cards. It’s a really lovely, community-building Event.”
Paul Mondo, President of the Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA) encouraged service providers and their families to say thank you on the day, or at any time during the week, whether through a formally organised celebration or through the simple gesture of giving a card or small hand-made gift.
“We would love to see as many early learning services as possible celebrate this year’s national community event,” he added. “It really doesn’t have to be an extravagant affair.
The aim of the day is to offer the simple gesture of saying thank you and acknowledging how much we appreciate our early childhood educators, particularly in the current COVID-19 climate.”
A range of resources has been compiled to support services to acknowledge the efforts of their educators. To access the resources, please see here.
