Severe Behaviour Workshop (SABR Theory)
July 20, 2021 - July 20, 2021
Irabina Autism Services 15 Plenty Road Bundoora, VIC 3083
Our 2-hour Severe Behaviour Workshop will help to identify what Behaviours of Concern look like and how to deal with these behaviours in a safe and manageable way, using positive behaviour support strategies.
This theory-based Workshop will help identify the basic traits of intellectual impairment that accompany behaviours of concern and how to use correct language when dealing with Individuals engaging in these behaviours.
Severe behaviour encompasses any extreme behaviour that causes stress, risk or physical harm and includes regular displays of:
• Aggressive behaviour
• Self-harming
• Harming others
This Workshop is focused on maintaining the safety and protection of both the child and the person providing care. It is suitable for parents of children with severe behaviour, as well as professionals and carers working with children displaying these traits.
Please note: The Severe Behaviour Workshop has been designed as the first of two steps in Safety and Behaviour Response (SABR) education and practice.
SABR is an internationally recognised training program that will assist in the prevention, management and de-escalation of crisis situations associated with severe challenging behaviours.
It is strongly recommended that attendance at this theory -based Workshop is followed by the completion of our practical SABR Training.
