NSW and NT confirmed as latest states to secure Universal Access funding
Minister for Education, Dan Tehan, has today confirmed that agreement has been reached with the New South Wales and the Northern Territory governments on the National Partnership on Universal Access to Early Childhood Education.
The agreement confirms that the Morrison Government will provide $128.9 million in Federal funding to New South Wales to support around 100,000 children attending pre school and $4.87 million in funding to support 3,600 pre school children in the Northern Territory.
The funding arrangements will enable pre school age children to access 15 hours per week regardless of their circumstances.
Mr Tehan noted “Our Government is supporting Australian families to access 600 hours of preschool in the year before full-time school because that is a critical time for laying the foundations for a child’s education.”
This latest round of agreements follows similar announcements made for South Australia, Victoria and the ACT who have also signed up to the National Partnership.
