Wickham Primary School to have new $3.5m early childhood buildings
Architects have been appointed to design new early childhood buildings at Wickham Primary School, with more than 90 children to benefit from the new $3.5 million facilities.
Supporting local jobs was a core focus of the appointment, with local Karratha Architects Hurley Architecture and Planning the successful bidders for the build, which will house kindergarten and pre-primary students.
Four purpose built learning environments have been scoped, with adjacent landscaped play areas, teaching spaces, kitchens, and storerooms.
With the project now in the planning stage, construction is expected to start in August 2021 with completion expected in May 2022, as part of the West Australian Government’s Recovery Plan to modernise Western Australian public schools.
“I am proud the McGowan Government is expanding Wickham Primary School, a project that will enhance education for local students and deliver local jobs,” Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel said.
