Teagan has come full circle, returning to her childhood ECEC service as an educator

Teagan Brady loved her time as a child attending Whittlesea Children’s Centre. As well as giving her lifelong friends, her happy memories of her time spent at the service inspired her toward a career in early childhood education and care (ECEC), landing her back where it all began when she secured work as an educator at the service.
TRY Whittlesea Children’s Centre opened its doors in December 1992, and is the first, and longest running, ECEC service in Whittlesea, with many staff having worked at the service for more than 20 years.
Teagan began attending the service when she was one, remaining until she started school. She now educates and cares for children aged between two and three years of age in the centre’s Kangaroo room.
Speaking with local publication The North Central Review, Teagan said her best memories of the service were centred around the many opportunities to learn, explore and make friends.
As part of the broader community, the centre has built relationships with local families that extend beyond the walls of the centre, and these relationships were one of the reasons Teagan was keen to return.
“Everyone knows everyone,” she told The North Central Review. “It’s like a family. The staff and families get to know each other so well.”
Teagan is currently using State Government incentives to study a Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education, building on the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care she began her career with.
