Architect appointed to design new early childhood facility in Western Australia

An architect has been appointed for a $3 million early childhood education building at High Wycombe Primary School which will provide facilities for more than 150 students, with construction expected to start early in 2021.

The brief for Christou Architects for the $3 million facility includes four classrooms, a kitchen and storage facilities, cleaner’s room, external storerooms, and a new undercover sandpit.

With the project now in the documentation stage, construction is expected to start in early 2021 with completion expected in September 2021, and WA Education and Training Minister, Sue Ellery, said the facility “will breathe new life into High Wycombe Primary School”, which originally opened in 1961, and “will give young students the best possible start to their education.”

This investment is part of the Government’s WA Recovery Plan to modernise Western Australian public schools and is expected to create four jobs in the local area.
