Family Learning Centre the jewel in Wyndham redevelopment
February saw a significant milestone in the Victorian city of Wyndham, with three major construction projects coming to a close, delivering new and improved community centres and facilities across the city.
Wyndham City Mayor Councillor Josh Gilligan joined Tarneit MP Sarah Connolly to officially open the all-new Mainview Boulevard Family Learning Centre in Truganina earlier this month, with Counsellor Gilligan saying the Wyndham City facility “would service residents in the fast-growing suburb.”
Demand for services in Truganina is rising at a rapid rate, in line with population growth, he added, noting that “with more than 90 babies born a week here in Wyndham, it’s important that we provide the services needed to ensure these babies get the best possible start in life.”
“This includes maternal and child health, support services, and early childhood education – exactly what the new centre will provide.”
The Victorian Government contributed $2.4 million through grant funding to the total build cost, which came in at $6.4 million.
Councillor Gilligan also opened two newly redeveloped facilities – Tarneit Community Learning Centre and Central Park Community Centre in Hoppers Crossing. The Tarneit Community Learning Centre redevelopment was “part of a broader Wyndham City initiative that delivered more Council services closer to home,” he said.
