Important reminder for Vic educators regarding education and occupation data collection
The Victorian Department of Education and Training has issued a reminder for services operating early childhood services about the Parental Education and Occupation details form, which aids service providers in collecting the education and occupation data they need from families as part of the annual confirmation process.
Parents of all children enrolled in a funded kindergarten program must give their service provider information about education and occupation as part of the annual confirmation process.
“It is essential that you collect this information and confirm your enrolments on time as this information is used to inform the calculation of School Readiness Funding (SRF) at your kindergarten service. The amount of SRF your service receives will be based on the needs of its children, as determined by their parent/guardian education and occupation information,” a spokesperson for the department said.
Having recently been updated, the form now aligns with the recent Kindergarten Information Management System (KIMS) upgrade, and now includes a single parent/guardian checkbox in the education and occupation screen, and a simplified layout.
A flyer has been prepared to support families in understanding the importance of collecting this information. The flyer can be accessed along with the form through the KIMS webpage.
Currently, the resources are only available in English, but translations will be available shortly.
