Three storey early learning service proposed for 55-57 Thomas Street, Parramatta

A development application has been submitted to the City of Parramatta outlining plans for a 99 place long day care service on the site of 55-57 Thomas Street, which is currently occupied by two single storey residential homes.
The area has appeal for early childhood education and care (ECEC) providers because of its location in an established residential area and for its walkability to the Western Sydney University Parramatta Campus which is 450 metres away.
Both homes would be demolished to make way for the centre, which promises to be ‘a modern childcare facility’ aiming to serve the needs of those who live and work in the local area as well as providing ‘much needed’ employment opportunities for locals.
“The development also aims to provide a modern building set within a landscape setting that not only addresses its frontage but will play a positive role in increasing valuable childcare places within Parramatta,” the application notes.
Plans show a service designed to cater for children birth – five years of age, with six separate indoor play areas, two outdoor play areas and a basement level for parking with spots for 25 vehicles, operating on weekdays from 7am to 6pm.
