Kingston District Council welcomes its share of $11.5m of infrastructure funding

South Australia’s Kingston District Council has received $3.5 million to deliver a new early childhood education and care (ECEC) service in Kingston including a nature-based outdoor play space, indoor education environment and consultation offices for child allied health services.
The project is one of five to be supported by almost $11.5 million in community infrastructure funding provided by the South Australian government in a bid to promote social cohesion and boost local economies.
Funded through the Growing Regions Program which has been designed to build or upgrade social infrastructure – such as sporting clubs, playgrounds and art centres –to improve the lives of locals, other projects include a destination adventure playground, men’s multidisciplinary art studios at four established Indigenous Art Centres, $1.4 million to redevelop the Penola Football Club and Community Sports Hub, and $900,000 to the District Council of Orroroo Carrieton to upgrade the Orroroo Main Street and revitalise the town’s CBD.
This funding follows $23 million already allocated to South Australia under the first round of the Growing Regions Program.
“Funding for these much-needed projects across South Australia will deliver infrastructure that increases community cohesion, liveability and accessibility,” Senator for South Australia Karen Grogan said.
“The Growing Regions Program is making local priority projects a reality, and I look forward to seeing the significant benefits this funding will provide for South Australian communities.”
The Growing Regions Program is one of four federal funding programs established by the Albanese Government to ensure that all areas of Australia have access to a funding opportunity for programs to support wider community benefit.
