Mount Ommaney Special School early childhood head remembered after traffic incident

65 year old Sandra Schuptar, along with her husband Peter, have been remembered as powerful community advocates as those who knew them mourn their passing in a tragic vehicle accident in Carbrook, a suburb in the City of Logan, Queensland.
Ms Schuptar was the head teacher of the early childhood development program and head of special education services at Mount Ommaney Special School. The school community expressed its condolences following the incident, offering the following in a social media post:
“It is with incredible sadness that we inform you this couple was in fact Sandra Schuptar (our ECDP HOSES) and her husband Peter (who many of you will also know through Sunshine Buses),” the post read.
“The news of their passing comes as a shock to us all. We are heartbroken beyond belief. All of our thoughts and prayers are with their family at this time.”
The couple were riding a Honda Goldwing motorcycle when it and a Nissan Patrol four-wheel-drive collided at the intersection of Coorang and Mt Cotton roads at Carbrook in Logan, near Brisbane, shortly before 7.30pm last Sunday.
Emergency services initially treated the couple for serious injuries but both died at the scene.
The Jewish community is also grieving their deaths, with the couple having been involved in various ministries, prayer groups and even organisers for groups to travel to Israel.
A 21-year-old Carbrook man who was driving the Nissan Patrol was not physically injured in Sunday’s crash, local media reports.
Police have launched an investigation. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Queensland police.
