Ink dries on first national supported bargaining agreement for ECEC
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) employer peak bodies Community Child Care Association and Community Early Learning Australia will meet with the Federal Government today to sign the first national supported bargaining agreement for the ECEC sector.
Representatives from Community Child Care Association and Community Early Learning Australia will meet with Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Senator the Hon Murray Watt, other employers and unions at the Fair Work Commission to formally sign the agreement, representing a major milestone in the bargaining process.
“It’s hard to overstate the importance of today’s agreement,” Julie Price, Community Child Care Association Executive Director said.
“This historic wage increase is possible because we had access to the multi-employer bargaining process to bring the whole early education sector and the Federal Government to the table.”
“This momentous change did not happen by accident. We have used the multi-employer bargaining process in record time to fix decades of pay inequality and deliver professional wages for educators and teachers,” Michele Carnegie, Community Early Learning Australia CEO added.
“This agreement and the Federal Government funded pay rise is only possible because employers and the peak bodies that represent them were united in valuing the early education and care workforce.”
