Teesdale to get early learning and childcare centre as part of Best Start, Best Life reforms
Teesdale families with young children will soon have better access to local early childhood education and care (ECEC) services with the announcement that land has been purchased to deliver the Teesdale Early Learning and Childcare Centre (ELCC), which will open in 2026.
Teesdale is in the Golden Plains Shire of Victoria, and the Teesdale ELCC will be one of 50 government-owned and operated centres the Victorian Government is opening between to improve access to early education and help meet demand for ECEC in regional communities.
The first four ELCCs will open in 2025 at Sunshine Primary School, Eaglehawk North Primary School, Moomba Park Primary School and Murtoa College, with 14 others opening in 2026 across the state.
Work to develop the remaining ELCCs is continuing, and where possible, they will be located at government schools, hospitals, TAFEs and other major employers to make ECEC more accessible and convenient for parents and carers.
“With a new early learning and childcare centre on its way, parents will be able to drop their kids off in one stop, kids can transition from early learning to primary school easier, and teachers will be able to get to know the new kids before they join their classes. Great for everybody!” Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle MP said.
