2024 VEYA nominations now open, recognising the best in Victorian early learning
The Victorian Early Years Awards (VEYA) are an annual celebration of leadership, outstanding achievement, exceptional dedication and innovation in improving outcomes for children aged from birth to eight years of age and their families.
Now in their 19th year, the VEYA platform has nine award categories which are designed to showcase the efforts early years organisations and professionals make towards:
- improving engagement in learning,
- supporting parents,
- building collaborative community partnerships,
- improving child health and wellbeing,
- delivering exemplary practice in early childhood education,
- leadership and;
- significant improvement on learning and teaching practices.
In 2023 two additional award categories were added. The first of the new categories recognises that educators make a vital contribution to early childhood services and children, while the second, named in honour of Aunty Rose Bamblett (dec), honours the importance of Aboriginal inclusion and perspectives in ensuring all services are accessible to Koorie children and families. These award categories will continue for 2024.
Winners are recognised as the best in Victoria for their category and go on to develop and share their inspiring work with their communities. Winners of each category will receive a grant of $15,000 for professional development or to support their nominated initiative. The finalists in each category are also eligible to win the prestigious Minister’s Award, selected by the Minister for Children.
Do you know an early childhood professional who deserves to be recognised? Submit your nominations on the VEYA website by 5pm, Thursday 13 June 2024.
A nomination writing webinar has been developed, led by a professional writer, to support the development of nominations. Learn more about the 15 May webinar, or book a place, by following this link.
