Children Australia journal relaunches, continuing 45-year legacy of learning

Following a 45-year publication history with various publishers, the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare has relaunched the national journal Children Australia.

The refreshed version of Children Australia will publish evidence and commentary from practitioners, researchers and the children and young people they support and showcase sector – research partnerships.

A diverse range of article types will feature in the journal, which will actively support and facilitate input from children, young people, carers, guardians, and parents as well as practitioners, clinicians, students, researchers and policymakers concerned with the welfare, wellbeing and development of children, young people and their families.

“This publication will provide a great resource for sharing ideas, theory and practice, and create opportunities to integrate current thinking into practice in the child welfare sector,” explained Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare CEO Deb Tsorbaris.

“We are excited to see how the sector, our member organisations and the children and families they work with benefit from the return of the journal.”

Ms Tsorbaris says a publication sharing the latest research and commentary for the sector had been missed in the past few years and the centre was excited to bring Children Australia back to life.

All published articles, including all previous articles, will be open access (free to read) through the journal website, and there will be no publishing fees for authors.

The three new co-editors-in-chief, Professor Sharon Bessell, Associate Professor Tim Moore, and Dr Dave Vicary are supported by a multidisciplinary Editorial Board of more than 25 members from around Australia.

The journal website is now live at childrenaustralia.org.au and submissions are open.

Contact the journal at [email protected] for more information or enquiries about submitting an article.
