Eugowra to establish preschool at showgrounds after November 2022 flooding

Eugowra Community Children’s Centre, a community-based not-for-profit preschool and long day care centre in the Central West of New South Wales, was significantly impacted by flooding on 14 November 2022, resulting in the loss of all resources and equipment from the facility.
The site has been non-operational since then, and space at Eugowra Public School has been used for teaching and learning for much of this year, however children and families were delighted to learn that a new temporary home has been secured at the Showground, where the service will operate for a maximum of three years while a new permanent and flood free site is established.
The decision was reached at a meeting of the Cabonne Council last week. 48 children will be able to be educated and cared for at the temporary facility, which will operate between the hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday with up to 15 full/part-time staff.
The development will include:
- 31.72m x 7.4m modular classroom
- 2 unisex WCs, 1 accessible bathroom
- Cot room
- Nappy area
- Children’s play floor area
- Store
- Kitchen
- Study
The development will also include a 7.6m x 9.76m modular office building providing a home base and withdrawal area, store room and pantry.
