Only About Children extends staff discounts to grandparents as talent war grows
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) provider Only About Children is believed to be the first in Australia to extend a 50 per cent discount on childcare (sic.) fees to both employees’ children and grandchildren.
The significant move demonstrates the challenges that the ECEC sector as a whole is facing when it comes to competition for qualified educators to fill the growing number of vacancies across the country.
The provider has described the decision as “a commitment to supporting families across generations” and as a way to welcome mature aged workers looking to build a rewarding career.
“As the early childhood education landscape evolves, Only About Children continues to push boundaries, recognising the importance of creating a holistic environment that benefits children, parents, and the wider community,” a spokesperson added.
The discount will apply to those working at all 75 Only About Children services which are spread over New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
Additional employee benefits include above award salaries and flexible working conditions, with permanent team members benefiting from 100 per cent paid education assistance programs, the option to purchase up to two weeks of additional leave per year, paid wellbeing leave, and an extensive rewards and recognition program.
