“Educators deserve it” says Arkie Wahroonga as it commits to 25% above award pay
Arkie Wahroonga, a new long day care service recently opened in the north-western Sydney suburb of Wahroonga has extended a new benefits package to its educators that includes 25 per cent above award pay and a $5,000 learning and development budget for each educator.
“We are proud to announce that we will be paying all educators at Arkie Wahroonga 25 per cent above award wage,” Jane Voigt, Co-Founder of Arkie, said.
“Our team have over 50 years collective experience in the early learning space and are intimately aware of the passion, drive, resilience and professionalism that is on display across our service day in and day out.”
“There is no doubt in our mind that educators deserve to be recognised appropriately for the incredible work that they do. At Arkie, we are thrilled to make it absolutely clear how special our educators are, and that they should be rewarded accordingly.”
GROW – An innovative professional development program for educators
Along with paying educators 25 per cent above award wage, Arkie has created GROW, a sector leading professional and wellbeing development program. This program, for all educators at Arkie Wahroonga, will focus on nurturing educators and supporting them with a learning and development pathway to leadership.
“My role is to bring the most thoughtful and passionate educators together into a space where they not only have all the resources they need to succeed but also are able to grow as professionals and leaders on their own journey,” Ms Voigt said.
The Arkie development program, GROW, is designed with educators in mind. Not only does it guarantee educators 25 per cent above award pay, it also extends a $5,000 annual professional learning allowance, qualification upskilling pathways and a range of other benefits.
Arkie Wahroonga’s commitment to educators is matched by its commitment to children

“Arkie embodies a sense of adventure, respect, kindness, inclusion and education, all of which are critical elements and attributes essential to raising the next generation of changemakers,” Ms Voigt said.
“Flexibility and fun are key drivers of what each day looks like at Arkie. Our curriculum includes a range of modules such as Arkie Active, Arkie Adventure and Arkie Alphabet, all designed with our children’s needs in mind and our Arkie philosophy at heart.”
“Special attention has been placed on our outdoor environments, including space for barefoot play and outdoor sleeping. The indoor environment is as impressive as outside, with spaces to help educators deliver on their pedagogical objectives.”
“Arkie Wahroonga is a unique place for educators and children. We have a big vision and we are committed to bringing it to life through a range of programs that positively influence our educators and families,” Ms Voigt added.
