Happy Haven Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is a South Australian provider operating across 50 sites in metropolitan and regional SA.

Service approval for Happy Haven was granted in December 2013, and the business has since diversified beyond just OSHC provision to also offering a range amusements for hire, an accredited test and tagging of electrical items service, and minibus hire.

All sites offer before and after school care and vacation care options.

Vision, philosophy and approach to learning

Happy Haven believes that all children need a safe, warm, secure and stimulating environment where quality care is provided, and that passionate and resourceful educators are crucial to providing children with a positive learning environment that is inclusive and respectful to all.

“Happy Haven OSHC provides children with opportunities to grow and develop as confident individuals by exploring their world through stimulating and challenging play. When planning our programs we take the time and care to personalise activities based on strengths and interests whilst encouraging the growth of relationships and interactions to support all children to develop a sense of belonging, being and becoming,” the statement of philosophy reads.

Are there any unique aspects to the Happy Haven offer?

Happy Haven actively pursues relationships with registered training organisations in order to maintain a strong pipeline of employees.

In 2021, the provider, along with ACCCO, was a finalist in the SA Training Awards for the Industry Collaboration Award in recognition of its efforts to deliver a school-based traineeship program.

What is Happy Haven’s approach to educator professional learning?

Happy Haven provides training and development to ensure its educator’s are confident and comfortable in carrying out their duties whilst at work. Educators are paid for their time to attend said training in the majority of cases.

“We love our people to be active contributors to programs, and give them the power to influence their workplace,” a representative said, noting that all sites are “open to fresh ideas from passionate and enthusiastic educators.”
