20 additional children per day as Leeton ELC expands

Leeton Shire Council in New South Wales has announced the expansion of Leeton Early Learning Centre (LELC), allowing for an additional 20 places per day to meet increased demand in the community.
A new demountable classroom has been delivered by Decentralised Demountables Pty Ltd, with local contractors supporting other aspects of the installation, said the Council’s Manager of Business Services Brent Lawrence.
“We are delighted to have associated works completed by local contractors, with Ben Ashton Plumbing to carry out the plumbing works, David Dowling Electrical to complete the electrical works, and 360 Protect to undertake the fencing works. Hi-Marq Services Pty Ltd was engaged to construct the new storage shed and playground shade structures which will mark the completion of the expansion project at LELC,” Mr Lawrence said.
The extra space will have a particular focus on accommodating children in the birth to three years of age range, with a view to freeing up workers to contribute to the local community.
Once the Occupation Certificate for the development is received, the Council can then formally apply to the NSW Department of Education to increase the operating licence from a 68 to 88 place per day service, a process which can take up to 90 days.
