United Workers Union campaign seeks educator support for 25% wage increase
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) union the United Workers Union is seeking support for its Set the Standard campaign, which builds on upcoming changes to the way in which ECEC professionals can negotiate for better pay and conditions.
2023 is a chance for the ECEC sector “to finally achieve the wages that educators deserve,” the Union said.
The campaign centres on three main points:
- A 25 per cent wage increase
- Government funding for said wage increases, calculated in the 2023 Budget, with a view to minimising the impact of wage increases for families
- Stronger representation of educator voices in the workplace.
ECEC professionals have been invited to endorse the changes, showing their support for the Union’s proposals. Once these positions are endorsed, those who sign will receive an email with access to a portal where they can access downloads, resources and training to help them share the campaign with coworkers.
