Early childhood education and care provider Guardian Childcare and Learning has appointed Greg Scherf as its growth and development manager, a newly created role which has been created to drive Guardian’s growth strategy and to oversee the organisation’s rapid growth trajectory.

Mr Scherf joined Guardian at the end of November, having made the move from Goodstart Early Learning, where he held a similar role.

With close to 30 centres being built and acquired by Guardian in the next 12 months, the network will grow to more than 160 centres across Australia, and it is this continued growth which has led to the creation of the new role, officially termed General Manager New Centres, to guide the smooth launch and integration of new centres into the network.

Mr Scherf was attracted to the role because of Guardian’s unique growth strategy which he views as an exciting opportunity for the organisation and for himself professionally.

“This work is all about working with great people across the organisation to deliver new places for children and their families to participate in Guardian’s early childhood experiences,” he said.

“To launch new centres with custom designed internal and external environments that reflect children’s needs, curiosity, and shared discovery, as well as the ability to help to create a team of supportive and dedicated Educators to help children grow is incredibly exciting.”

“I look forward to being part of Guardian’s next phase of growth.”

The planned expansion, Guardian CEO Warren Bright continued, is a significant program of work, and Mr Scherf was viewed as an ideal candidate to drive it given his experience in program and project management.

“Greg has more than a dozen years’ experience in the sector and has a tremendous track record of delivering outcomes through the coordination of cross functional teams in complex environments,” Mr Bright said, “which is just what successful greenfield launches and acquisition integrations rely on.”

Mr Scherf will hold responsibility for both greenfield centre launches as well as acquisition operational due diligence and integration.
