KU Grevillea Preschool in Hornsby Heights celebrates 50 years of service

KU Grevillea Preschool in Hornsby Heights recently celebrated its 50th anniversary of providing quality early childhood education and care (ECEC) to local families with a community event attended by children, families and educators from the preschool, as well as KU Children’s Services CEO Christine Legg, and Hornsby Shire Councillor Warren Waddell.
Director Jane Moran said the team were very proud to mark the milestone, which was celebrated with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony followed by a series of heart-felt speeches before an afternoon tea was served including damper the children had made.
One of the highlights on the day was the unveiling of a magnificent poster, which was created in honour of the celebration, outlining more than 50 sustainable daily actions embedded in the preschool that demonstrate its commitment to Earth’s future children, Ms Moran explained.
“At KU Grevillea, we have a close-knit team of educators who are invested in our preschool,” she continued.
“Many educators live in the local area, so several have had their own children enrolled with the service over the years – some even attended themselves as children!” she added.
Rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standards, the preschool educates and cares for children from three to five years of age.
More information about the preschool is available by contacting Ms Moran on (02) 9476 2686.
