The Sector launches new jobs, careers and workforce focused newsletter, refreshes existing jobs board

by Jason Roberts

November 07, 2022

The Sector, the early childhood education and care (ECEC) community’s largest and most trusted news source, will launch a new jobs, careers and workplace focused newsletter that will provide value added, relevant and actionable information to prospective and current ECEC professionals, with additional support provided by a new and improved jobs search platform.

“We are very excited to add this new, and potentially very important, set of services to our current news offering,” The Sector Founder and CEO Jason Roberts said.

The Sector has carved out a unique position across ECEC that lends itself to connecting with audiences both inside and outside the ECEC sector at large,” he continued.

“After extensive consultation with many sector leaders we concluded that we could leverage our skills to support broader efforts to raise the profile of ECEC in the eyes of prospective job seekers and provide current professionals of all types working in the sector with a useful resource to keep them abreast of matters that impact their day to day roles.”

ECEC Jobs Roundup will be a weekly publication and will deliver a range of content including:

– Summaries unpacking new rules around pay and conditions

– Updates on shifting workforce rules and regulations

– Primers on key ECEC roles, with real life testimonials

– Profiles of different approved providers from across the ECEC system

– Tips and tricks on securing the right job

– Details of new career pathways, programs and events

– Curated job opportunities across both service and support office levels

“With so much happening right now across our sector which potentially directly impacts the lives of all of us, the time is right for an independent resource that pulls together all of the many threads into one accessible place which is exactly what the ECEC Jobs Roundup will do,” Mr Roberts added.

“ECEC Jobs Roundup” launch paired with a refresh of The Sector’s onsite jobs board

The launch of the new newsletter will coincide with, and be supported by, the launch of a  refreshed version of The Sector’s dedicated onsite ECEC jobs search and listing platform

Known as The Sector Jobs, the more traditional user platform first introduced to the The Sector website in late 2020 has been reengineered to create a modern and intuitive experience for both prospective candidates and listing providers alike.

The new platform caters to a wide range of opportunities from across the ECEC sector, including service and support office based roles, as well as those outside of the provider universe such as advocacy, research, tech and government centred opportunities.

The Sector Jobs board marks the first step in a broader strategy to update the service components of our flagship website The Sector – Early education news, jobs and more,” Mr Roberts continued.

“We feel it is important that our site reflects the levels of professionalism we hope to embed in team members working with services across the country.”

“By upgrading our jobs board we are signalling our commitment to facilitating wherever possible efficient job seeking and job filling for our community and when this is paired with our new newsletter we feel we are in a strong position to provide tangible support in these challenging recruitment times.”

With a focus on ensuring that ECEC, and the merits of working within it, are front and centre at all times, a dedicated jobs news section has been created to sit alongside the search and listing features.

“Our medium term objective is to establish The Sector Jobs as a destination where anybody and everybody interested in ECEC as a career can access our extensive archives to research the sector, providers and roles easily and then within a couple of clicks apply for roles too,” Mr Roberts added.

“Despite the very real challenges being faced across our sector right now we remain hopeful that we can do our part to make a difference in this crucial area.”

The Sector Jobs is now live on site and can be accessed here. The ECEC Jobs Roundup’s inaugural edition will be released next Monday, 14 November.
