Bundle up and bag a bargain with MTA during end of financial year sales

For many early childhood education and care (ECEC) services, June 30 means the closing out of budgets, with an eye to planning for the next financial year.

With many budgets being based on previous year’s costs, it makes sense for services to try and spend any unused budgets for furniture, equipment and resources in the last few months of the financial year.

While the weather may be turning colder, the bargains are heating up with specialist businesses like the team from Modern Teaching Aids (MTA) who have, until the end of June, made some “red hot” sale packs available where services can save up to 70 per cent to get the most out of their remaining budget for the year.

Firstly the Striped Teepee and Discovery Playmat Kit which brings together a photographic playmat featuring black sand, volcanic rock, shells, leaves and paua shells with a colourful teepee style tent which features a window with cover, front flaps and a floor sheet to create a wonderful indoor space for imaginative play.

For services which value the opportunity to make meaningful and hands on connection with First Nations culture, the Fair Trade – Australian Indigenous Food Set makes the perfect addition to the learning space. Supported by teaching notes, the set allows children to engage in imaginative play and role play with traditional Australian bush foods, such as bush banana, finger lime, quandong and native tamarind.

Children can gather the food in the Coolamons and hand woven dilly bags which are included in the 15 piece kit, offering further opportunities for educators to embed the culture and traditions of First Nations people in a meaningful way, contributing to quality areas one and six.

For a more open-ended imaginative play experience, the Omni People – Mixed Wood Set which allows children to represent families, friends and communities in their play. The Set includes 24 Omni People of various sizes and is suitable for use by children aged three years and above.

Younger learners are also catered for in the end of financial year (EOFY) sales, with the ever popular 35 piece Viking Toys Chubbies Bucket Set. These toys are well known in the ECEC sector for their durability and accessibility for younger children, with wheels that spin and durable vinyl construction. The toys are easy to clean and sterilise, and are made with robust materials to withstand many hours of shared play.

The dëna Silicon Stacking & Teether Pastel Set is made from soft materials which are suitable for babies and young toddlers to explore with their hands and mouths through playing, chewing and developing psychomotor skills.

Older children can use dëna as a construction game to support the development of their fine motor skills. The sets come in both neon and pastel colourways, making it easy for services to select a resource which matches their philosophy and decor.

Building on the construction resources available under the MTA EOFY deals, the Natural Spaces – See Through Coloured Blocks Value Pack is a bulk set of four 24 piece collections of lightweight wooden colours blocks with transparent coloured acrylic inserts. (pictured above)

The sets include squares, rectangles, semi circles, quarter circles and right angled triangles with acrylic inserts of red, green, yellow, blue, orange and purple, and make the perfect accompaniment to the Set of 16 Treasure Tubes, allowing children to explore various sensory sensations and to meaningfully engage with STEM concepts such as light, colour, volume and capacity.

These Treasure Tubes are stackable and have removable lids, allowing children and educators to explore the senses of sight, touch and sound while engaging in exploratory sensory activities. The open ended nature of the tubes means they can be used to reinforce a number of curriculum areas and outcomes.

Finally the MTA Spaces Mirrored Exploratory Play Kit gives educators all the tools they need to create engaging and enchanting play experiences for children, with a Triangle Exploratory Mirror, a set of 20 Wooden Pebbles and set of 20 Mirror Pebbles, all suitable for use by children aged ten months and above.

Mirror play allows children to develop their visual senses, and aids in their self awareness and concept of self, both of which are important cornerstones of social and emotional development. Made from robust and child safe materials, the mirrored surfaces included in the kit are specifically designed for early learning environments, avoiding the hazard posed by traditional glass mirrors.
