Mount Dandenong Preschool continues to operate from Olinda Primary following storm
The three and four year old children of Mount Dandenong Preschool continue to be cared for and educated at Olinda Primary School in 2022 following the June 2021 closure of the original preschool site following severe weather events.
Yarra Ranges Council continues to wait for the scope of work insurance report after a tree fell and damaged the preschool building at 1345 Mount Dandenong Tourist Road, Mount Dandenong. Since the damage occurred the preschool has been operating from Olinda Primary School.
Mayor Jim Child told local news source Star Mail that the council is waiting for the insurance company to provide a scope of work report before any work can be undertaken.
“While this relocation is temporary, until we get more clarity from the insurance company, the Mount Dandenong Preschool staff will continue to offer this vital service to families in the region by operating from the Olinda Primary School site, which has been set up for use and provides the infrastructure needed to deliver this service,” the Mayor said.
Usable equipment from the Preschool’s outdoor area has been relocated to Olinda for use by the preschoolers, with the program running Tuesdays to Thursdays from 9.15am to 2.15pm.
