Goodstart CEO announces Marlene van Vuuren as NSW/ACT Goodstarter of Year 2020

Marlene van Vuuren, Centre Director at Goodstart St Leonards was announced as the winner of the Goodstarter of the Year Award for New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory late last year.
Ms van Vuuren was recognised for her ‘exceptional leadership skills’ in 2020, which Goodstart Early Learning said made a difference not only to her service, but to the lives of children and families in the broader community also.
Under her leadership Goodstart St Leonards achieved a rating of Exceeding in all seven quality areas, and has established a strong partnership with community organisations such as Cantoo, The Smith Family, Red Cross, Foodbank and the Royal North Shore Hospital.
Nominated by her team, Ms van Vuuren was identified as a leader who has shaped a positive team culture through continually celebrating professional and personal achievements of the team and one who leads by example.
“Without her, we would not be the amazing team we are today. She inspires the whole team to be the best they can be and treat each other with kindness, understanding and respect. She is always there to listen and offer solutions. not to mention she makes the day fun while doing it,” the nomination read.
Ms van Vuuren said she was honoured and excited to win the award.
“We all have the ability to create a positive impact on others,” she said. “My goal is to continue to uplift, inspire and build skills in others, to enable them to achieve their best.”
