A very special day for ECTs is coming – how will you mark World Teachers’ Day?
While World Teachers’ Day is acknowledged worldwide on 5 October, in Australia the day is formally celebrated on Friday 30 October, given 5 October is during school holidays for most of the country.
World Teachers’ Day is a day for early childhood teachers (ECTs) to join their peers who work in other contexts to celebrate and be proud of the contribution they make to the lives of children.
In 2020, despite major challenges, teachers of all kinds, across the country, have made sure that education continues, reinforcing the significance of the role of teachers in the lives of children, families and the community.
The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) invites all teachers to participate in World Teachers’ Day (30 October), celebrating being part of a remarkable profession and its bright future by posting a photo in sunglasses on social media, either on their own or with colleagues, using the following hashtags: #teachersday #brightfuture
Parents/carers and the Australian community are invited to be involved too, thanking teachers using the same photo prompt and hashtags.
