Early Learning Matters Week 2020

From today until 7 August, the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector will join with parents, carers and community leaders around Australia and come together (online) to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of early learning by participating in Early Learning Matters week.
A special message in support of Early Learning Matters week has been prepared by Australia’s Governor General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley and his wife.
Whilst Early Learning Matters Week activities will be conducted online this year, owing to constraints posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, there are a number of ways to celebrate the role that high-quality early education and care plays in supporting children to be confident, enthusiastic learners, and in building a foundation for wellbeing and achievement throughout their lives.
Services and individuals might want to:
- share photos of how they foster children’s learning or support early learning and care services;
- post a message about why early learning matters; or,
- talk to educators and teachers about early learning.
Further suggestions are available on the Early Learning Matters website, as well as through discussions on the Early Learning Matters Week Facebook page, and on other social media using #earlylearningmatters
