Maveric Builders awarded contract for new Kindergarten build at Bowen Road Primary
Tasmanian business Maveric Builders Pty Ltd have been awarded a $1.4 million contract to build a new kindergarten for the Bowen Road Primary School as part of the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to supporting local jobs and infrastructure projects in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The upgrade, Tasmanian Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said, will include two flexible learning areas and “significant improvements” to the entrance area, which will improve access for children with mobility needs, as well as providing upgrades to external play areas.
Tasmanian business Morrison & Breytenbach Architects was commissioned late last year to oversee the project.
Bowen Road’s upgrades form part of the broader focus by the Tasmanian government on the role quality early years education plays in lifting educational outcomes, having budgeted more than $15 million for upgrades to early learning facilities and brand new kindergartens around the state, while also creating jobs and supporting the economy.
“We want students to develop a life-long love of learning from a young age which is why we are ensuring they have access to state of the art facilities that are welcoming, safe and inclusive” Mr Rockliff said.
