Communities at Work Family Day Care awarded National Service of the Year
Communities at Work’s Family Day Care team has been recognised on the national stage, taking home the prestigious Service of the Year Award at the Family Day Care Australia’s 2025 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.
The awards celebrate the exceptional quality, innovation, and impact of Family Day Care services across the country. Communities at Work’s national win highlights the strength of its educators, the dedication of its coordination team, and the organisation’s commitment to supporting children, families, and educators in the Canberra Region.
Theresa Roberts, Manager of Communities at Work’s Family Day Care service, accepted the award on behalf of her team, expressing her gratitude and pride:
“We are all incredibly honoured. I am very fortunate to be part of this amazing team whose individual strengths and passions contribute to why we are standing in front of you today,” said Ms Roberts.
In her speech, Theresa reflected on the community effort behind the recognition:
“To our educators, you inspire and challenge us and genuinely make us want to be better. Thank you for bringing your passion, expertise, and love to your profession.
To the families, thank you for entrusting your little humans with us. It’s a privilege that we never, ever take lightly.
And to the children, the reason we are all here, thank you for sharing your journeys with us. You enrich our lives daily.”
She also thanked Family Day Care Australia and the event sponsors for providing a platform to recognise the sector’s life-changing work, as well as Communities at Work’s Executive Director of Children’s Services, Kellie Stewart, and the many colleagues and partners who made their success possible.
This national recognition reinforces Communities at Work’s role as a leader in early education and care, continuing to provide high-quality Family Day Care that nurtures learning, growth, and connection for Canberra’s youngest learners. Its educators deliver high-quality small group care to almost 300 children, tailored to individual families’ needs.
