Queensland expands parent-focused anti-bullying support with new online forum

Queensland families will soon have access to a new digital platform designed to support parents navigating bullying concerns, thanks to a $3.2 million government investment in My Circle for Parents.

The platform, part of the state’s broader anti-bullying plan, will provide parents and caregivers with free, anonymous, and clinically moderated access to peer discussion, expert advice, and evidence-based resources. It aims to support those whose children are either experiencing or engaging in bullying behaviours.

My Circle for Parents complements existing initiatives such as Rapid Support Squads, increased school wellbeing staffing, expanded Parentline hours, and professional development for educators. Together, these efforts form part of a $33 million anti-bullying strategy led by the Queensland Government.

While primarily focused on school-aged children, My Circle for Parents may prove valuable for families in early learning settings, particularly those supporting children transitioning to school or managing emerging social challenges.

The program offers a space for parents to:

  • Seek guidance in high-stress or emotionally charged situations
  • Connect with others facing similar concerns
  • Understand strategies for supporting positive behaviour and resilience

Each user is given a unique login, and forums are actively moderated by trained counsellors to ensure a respectful, supportive environment.

Queensland Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said the service provides families with an additional layer of support and highlights the role parents play in addressing bullying alongside educators and school communities.

“Tackling the scourge of bullying requires concerted efforts from all adults involved in a child’s life, especially parents,” Minister Langbroek said.

“The support we’re providing to help parents play an active role in addressing bullying assists schools and school staff managing these situations too.”

The My Circle investment follows a further $1.6 million allocated to enhance Parentline, Queensland’s telephone counselling service for families.

For early childhood educators, the expansion of family support programs like My Circle for Parents reinforces the importance of early intervention, family-centred practice, and cross-sector collaboration in supporting children’s social and emotional wellbeing.

Services supporting preschoolers and children in long day care may consider sharing this new platform with families, especially during times of transition or when addressing peer dynamics that can signal early signs of social distress.

The My Circle for Parents platform is hosted by Parentline and available free of charge to Queensland families.
