eSafety Commissioner to host free webinar for early years educators

A free online session will equip early childhood education and care leaders with tools to navigate online safety under upcoming regulatory changes.
Centre managers, educators and leaders across the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector are being encouraged to prioritise online safety, ahead of key changes to child safeguarding requirements under the National Quality Framework (NQF) from 1 September 2025.
To support services in navigating these changes, the eSafety Commissioner will host a free, one-hour information session designed specifically for early years professionals.
Taking place online on Wednesday 23 October from 12:30pm to 1:30pm (AEDT), the session will offer guidance on digital safety, outline eSafety’s reporting functions, and introduce the latest evidence-based resources developed for the early years context.
The webinar will cover:
- the importance of digital safety education in early years settings
- the eSafety Commissioner’s role and reporting processes
- a range of tools and resources to support educators, families and children aged 0–5.
This professional learning opportunity comes at a critical time for the sector, with digital safety becoming increasingly central to quality practice and compliance expectations.
Since launching its Early Years program in 2020, eSafety has supported thousands of educators and families with trusted, practical resources to help children engage safely in a digital world.
The upcoming session is suitable for centre directors, managers, approved providers, and those in policy, training, oversight or support roles.
Where possible, services are encouraged to nominate a lead representative, who can attend the session and facilitate knowledge-sharing through internal professional learning and planning discussions.
Preparing for the session
Participants are encouraged to:
- review their centre’s current digital safety policies and practices
- explore the eSafety Early Years program
- bring questions or examples of practice to reflect on during the session.
After the session: practical applications
To embed learning into everyday practice, services can:
- use the session as a catalyst for centre-wide discussions during team meetings or communities of practice
- share key messages with families through newsletters, noticeboards or informal conversations
- integrate online safety into the educational program by using eSafety’s resources designed for children aged 0–5.
Since launching its Early Years program in 2020, eSafety has supported thousands of educators and families with trusted, practical resources to help children engage safely in a digital world.
