Only About Children (OAC) is celebrating the first anniversary of Bunji, its much-loved safety mascot, who has become an important part of campus life over the past year.
Introduced in 2024, Bunji was created to help children, families, and educators turn everyday conversations about safety into playful, hands-on experiences. One year on, Bunji has become a powerful and practical tool for embedding child safety and wellbeing into daily routines across OAC’s campuses.

From STEM projects to storytelling, campus lockdown drills to health checks, Bunji has inspired creativity, teamwork, and learning in countless ways.

Some examples of how Bunji has helped promote safety through children’s eyes include:
- At OAC Melbourne Central, children designed and engineered a life-size Bunji, blending STEM skills with imagination to explore safety and self-expression.
- At OAC Croydon Park, children taught Bunji about helmets, seatbelts, and float jackets while swimming, showing how everyday safety practices can be fun and memorable.
- At OAC Freshwater, Bunji joined in eye health activities, reminding children that looking after yourself is part of staying safe.
Other campuses now include Bunji in fire drills, with code words and stickers that guide children to safe spaces. As Bunji turns one, OAC is proud to mark this milestone as part of its broader commitment to child safety and wellbeing. Bunji has helped children feel confident and empowered by making safety visible, practical, and part of everyday life, becoming a bridge between important conversations and real action.
