Ranger Jamie Brings high-energy, hands-on learning to Sydney’s preschoolers

13 August, 2025, Preschool education in New South Wales were in for a treat. Ranger Jamie Tours, known for delivering curriculum-aligned school excursions to more than 600,000 students, officially launched its Early Learning Division, bringing high-impact, play-based education to preschoolers across the state.
Founded by former marine biologist Jamie Simpson, Ranger Jamie is best known for transforming science and geography into real-world adventures for primary and secondary students. Now, that same hands-on, dress-up-and-dive-in style is being tailored for children aged 2 to 5.
Delivered onsite at early learning centres, the new 60-minute incursions align with the national Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and focus on key themes like sustainability, STEM, and cultural inclusion. Each session is led by Ranger Jamie qualified educators with early learning expertise.
“We’ve seen the power of experiential learning for older students, and now we’re bringing that same energy and quality to the early years,” said Jamie Simpson, CEO and Founder of Ranger Jamie
“These sessions spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and help build school readiness in a way that’s active, memorable, and genuinely fun. Whether they’re in a ranger uniform or a lab coat, every child gets the chance to explore, create, and learn.”
Proof this concept has already been embraced, over 100 early learning centres have been part of the pilot program with high satisfaction ratings across all programs. 100% of participants have said they will rebook a Ranger Jamie Early Learning program in the coming 12 months. Across all age groups this year, Ranger Jamie is set to deliver 2,300 programs, educating more than 200,000 students nationally.
The expansion comes at a time of rapid growth in Australia’s early learning sector, with 1.44 million children currently enrolled in approved care including more than 460,000 in NSW alone.
“There’s a real shift happening,” said Simpson. “Early education is no longer viewed as just care. Parents, educators, and governments are recognising the importance of high-quality learning before school starts. We’re proud to be part of that movement.”
Sector leaders back new approach to early learning
Chiang Lim, CEO of the Australian Childcare Alliance NSW, welcomed the initiative, noting its alignment with the evolving expectations of early education.
“Programs like Ranger Jamie’s enable scientific curiosity to be accessible to young children. Better yet, Ranger Jamie’s approach guarantees children are transfixed with maximum fun! They support our sector’s educational programming so science is experiential and outcomes-focussed, and even prepares young minds to be school ready,” said Lim.
“High-quality, hands-on learning experiences like these are not just enjoyable, they’re foundational. They help lay the cognitive, emotional, and social groundwork that children need to thrive at school and beyond.”
“Children at Rise and Shine Kindergarten enjoyed safe, engaging and educational experiences that were delivered by the passionate and professional Ranger Jamie team. Preschool children across 10 of our centres enjoyed the Geography excursion to local parks where they learnt about conservation and the local flora and fauna through a range of age-appropriate experiences. Thank you, Ranger Jamie!” said, Petro Papazoglou, Head of Education.
