Play Matters Australia launches grant opportunity for rural and remote playgroups

Play Matters Australia recently launched a Rural and Remote Playgroup Grants program, aimed at supporting playgroups in rural and remote communities across Queensland through 2 distinct funding opportunities.
Available in 2025, the Rural and Remote Playgroup Grants program aims to support rural and remote playgroups to enhance facilities, provide valuable resources, and improve the overall experience for families.
By fostering inclusive and engaging environments, Play Matters Australia continues its commitment to empowering children and caregivers through play.
Grant Opportunities
The Rural and Remote Playgroup Grants program offers two distinct funding opportunities:
- Small Grants:
Value: Up to $1,000 in the form of an EducationAll voucher.
Eligibility: Open to all playgroups located in designated rural and remote areas, regardless of their affiliation with Play Matters Australia.
- Larger Grants:
Value: Between $1,000 and $5,000 in cash.
Eligibility: Exclusively for Play Matters Affiliated groups. These funds are intended for facility upgrades or improvements that enhance playgroup activities in defined rural and remote locations.
Who Can Apply?
Grants are open to playgroups operating in areas classified as Moderately Accessible (MA), Remote (R), or Very Remote (VR) according to the Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia. For a complete list of eligible locations, applicants can view the details here.
Reporting Requirements
All recipients of the grant must submit a short acquittal report, detailing how the funds were used to benefit their playgroup and its community.
