NEiTA Award nominations now open for 2025 award program

Nominations for the National Excellence in Teaching Awards (NEiTA) are now open, offering parents, students, principals, early learning settings and schools to identify and nominate exceptional teachers who have displayed extraordinary enthusiasm, commitment and creativity for a prestigious opportunity for national recognition.
Through the awards the NEiTA Foundation will acknowledge the work of winners via professional grants and prizes thanks to the backing of Futurity Investment Group.
The NEiTA program is Australia’s longest continuing teacher recognition awards program and for the past 30 years the Foundation has recognised more than 1,110 exceptional educators and given more than $1.4m in professional development grants and prizes.
In the early learning space the Seed Teams Award recognises early childhood teams from Australia and New Zealand for foundational teaching, providing $10,000 for a professional development grant.
“NEiTA nominees are inspirational, talented, committed and engaging teachers who are dedicated to their students, schools and the community,” NEiTA Foundation Chair, Catherine O’Sullivan said.
“A NEiTA nomination is the perfect way for parents and students to reward teacher quality, and to recognise inspirational educators, teachers and school principals.”
Kerry Peacey, the Support Teacher for Inclusive Education at St John Fisher College in Brisbane (pictured) won both the Apple Award and Teacher Mentor Award at last year’s gala event, and said being recognised was an emotional experience.
“Teachers don’t often receive accolades, but when they do, it ripples out and touches the entire school community,” she said.
“The best thing you can do is nominate a brilliant educator for a National Excellence in Teaching Award.”
The NEiTA Trustees’ Alumni Award offers an opportunity for a NEiTA past winner to win a further $10,000 professional development grant.
Nominations are open until 27 June at www.neita.com
