Stacy, a dedicated staff member and volunteer at the Warriapendi Child and Parent Centre (CPC) is making a lasting impact on her local community through her passion for music and her vibrant energy.

Stacy’s journey with the CPC began in 2018 when she returned as a client after originally teaching music at Warriapendi Primary School. Inspired by the supportive environment, she started sharing her skills with others in 2019. By 2021, Stacy officially became a volunteer with MercyCare, and in 2024, she transitioned into a staff role at the CPC.

As part of her role at the CPC, Stacy facilitates playgroup sessions that promote social development in children. Her focus is on helping young children learn essential skills like sharing, taking turns, and practicing consent. Her efforts go beyond the basics, aiming to create a safe and supportive space where everyone, from children to parents, feels respected and valued.

She has an ability to teach with patience, compassion, and understanding, attributes that have made her a  beloved figure at the CPC where parents and children alike have benefited from her guidance, with many children learning vital social skills under her mentorship.

Her own children also participate in the playgroup, growing alongside the other children. Through these interactions, they’ve learned the importance of cooperation and empathy, and have even begun mentoring their peers on how to share, play, and resolve conflicts.

A powerful example of Stacy’s teaching philosophy can be found in her use of The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. In the story, the rainbow fish learns to share because he realizes he has plenty to give—and in doing so, he finds happiness.

Stacy relates to this story, viewing her volunteer work as an opportunity to share her abundance of joy, knowledge, and passion. Through this act of giving, she finds fulfillment, and her positive influence continues to uplift the Warriapendi community.

Her work at the CPC is a testament to the power of sharing and community-building. Her ongoing dedication to supporting families and helping children grow is inspiring, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
