Green Leaves Griffin celebrates 10 years of community connection

Green Leaves Early Learning Griffin, in Queensland, is celebrating ten years of connection with the local community, reflecting on the growth and change of the service and its surroundings over the years.
The service opened ten years ago to meet the needs of the community, and for some time was the only early learning service in the community.
Over the years, the centre has expanded to accommodate the rapid growth of the suburb, and the diversity of families and the multicultural community.
After its second birthday, the centre underwent its first major expansion with the construction of a second building which included additional learning hubs and a specially designed outdoor environment for the Nursery children to explore and connect with nature in.
Integrating nature in a thoughtful and considered way has become a hallmark of the service, Head of Operations, Kirsten Berry shared, with the team and centre continuing to grow and evolve, mirroring the natural landscape.
“We’ve been so fortunate to be a part of the children’s learning journeys in those early years that form a foundation for the leap they take later in life, as they go through their schooling years.”
Educator, Nicole, who has been with the centre for all ten years, believes the success of Green Leaves can be attributed to its strong leadership and supportive relationships amongst the team.
The centre is immensely close to her heart, and her wish for its future is that the service continues to make a positive difference in the lives of children and continues to empower educators to contribute to its collective success.
For Centre Director Alyce, her hope is that the service, and those working within it, continue to transform early learning by implementing inclusive, enriching, and empowering experiences for both children and families.
“It’s a place where children feel valued as individuals and where their unique needs and strengths are recognised and nurtured.”
“I envision a future where we redefine what quality early education means – not just in terms of academic outcomes, but also in nurturing a deep sense of belonging, emotional well- being, and social development,” she said.
Green Leaves Griffin’s philosophy is grounded in the belief that children’s ideas, concepts, and theories are integral to their learning experiences. Educators actively encourage children to take part in designing their environments and developing a sense of ownership and belonging.
