$3m centre announced for Leppington Town Centre as part of urban growth plans

Plans for a $3m early childhood education and care (ECEC) service have been revealed amid a revamp of Leppington town centre in Sydney’s southwestern suburbs.
Camden and Liverpool council’s joint masterplan for the new Leppington Town Centre estimates 25,000 new residents and 11,000 jobs being created once completed, which will be supported by the creation of a double-storey 140-place contemporary long day care setting at 81-85 Pluto Ave, less than a five-minute drive from a 300-unit high-rise apartment complex proposed for the new town centre.
Designed to cater for children from birth to six years of age, the centre is in close proximity to the new town centre in Leppington, and is set to operate from 7am to 6pm.
37 car parking spaces will be created on a basement level, with the service offering 21 of those spaces for educators.
20 spaces in the service will be allotted to children two years of age and under, 40 children between two and three years of age, and 80 spaces for children aged between three and six years of age, with children having access to 481 sqm of “unencumbered” indoor play space and 1023 sqm of outdoor play areas.
Seven indoor play areas and two outdoor play spaces are outlined in the plans for the double level centre, which also has sleeping spaces and administrative areas including reception, staff rooms, kitchen, laundry and amenities.
The site for the development falls into Leppington’s North Precinct and will also be close to a retail centre, school and public transport hubs planned for the future.
Alongside the new early learning setting, Leppington’s future town centre will transform existing paddocks into multi-million dollar high-rise towers, 50,000sqm of retail and entertainment space, and over 230,000sqm dedicated to commercial, health and education spaces by 2041.
